When was the first BABYBJÖRN® Baby Carrier introduced?
The BABYBJÖRN® Baby Carrier was first launched in 1973. It was originally called "Close-to-Heart" and was a simpler version of today's baby carrier. Since then, continuous development has paved the way for the four types of BABYBJÖRN® Baby Carriers offered today.
When can I start using BABYBJÖRN Baby Carriers?
You can use the BABYBJÖRN Baby Carrier Active and BABYBJÖRN Baby Carrier Synergy from when your child weighs 8 pounds (3.5 kg) up to 26 pounds (12 kg).
The BABYBJÖRN Baby Carrier Original Spirit, BABYBJÖRN Baby Carrier Original Classic and BABYBJÖRN Baby Carrier Air can be used from when your child weighs 8 pounds (3.5 kg) until he/she weighs 25 pounds (11 kg).
When should I use the leg straps?
Leg straps must be used for infants between 8-11 lbs (3.5-4.5 kg).
How do I wash my BABYBJÖRN Baby Carrier?
BABYBJÖRN Baby Carriers can all be machine-washed in warm water. Use a bleach-free detergent. Do not tumble dry.
Will the darker-colored parts on my Baby Carrier bleed onto the lighter parts when washing?
BABYBJÖRN® textile designers strive to use only the highest quality fabrics and coloring methods. If you follow the instructions for proper care and washing, there should not be any problems with discoloring.
Is it OK for my child to sleep in the baby carrier?
Yes! It's fine for your child to sleep in a BABYBJÖRN Baby Carrier. In the baby carrier, your child gets the closeness and warmth he/she needs to fall asleep feeling safe. BABYBJÖRN Baby Carriers provide good support for the child's back and neck, so you can carry your sleeping child for as long as he/she is satisfied. However, small children should not remain in the same position for extended periods. That's why we recommend that you always pay close attention to your child's needs and switch between the baby carrier and, for example, a baby sitter, stroller or crib.
Since the baby carrier's front piece is completely detachable, you can easily put your sleeping child down without waking him or her.
Is it safe for my child to suck and chew on the baby carrier?
Yes. All the fabrics in our baby carriers are tested and certified in accordance with Oeko-Tex Standard 100, class 1 for baby products, the class that has the most rigorous requirements. The Oeko-Text label means that all the fabrics are free from health-hazardous substances and allergens.
A lot of children suck and drool on the baby carrier when they are carried facing forward. To avoid having to wash the baby carrier too often, it's a good idea to use a BABYBJÖRN Bib for Baby Carrier. Naturally, this is also certified in accordance with Oeko-Tex Standard 100, class 1.
When can I start carrying my child facing forward in the baby carrier?
After consulting the pediatricians we work with, we recommend that you carry your child facing you in the baby carrier until he/she is around 4 months— or until the child's neck muscles are strong enough to hold up his/her head.
How long can I carry my child in the baby carrier each time?
You can carry your child in the baby carrier for as long as he/she is content there. However, small children should not be motionless in the same position for long periods of time. That's why we recommend that you always pay close attention to your child's needs and switch between the baby carrier and, for example, a baby sitter, stroller or crib.
How do I adjust the head support on my BABYBJÖRN Baby Carrier?
The head support on BABYBJÖRN Baby Carriers should be used until the child's neck muscles are strong enough to hold up his/her head. You adjust the head support by tightening or loosening the short bands on each side of the top of the baby carrier. Make sure there is enough room around your child's head to allow the free passage of air.
My BABYBJÖRN® Baby Carrier seems too tight for my baby. What can I do?
Make sure that the sliding buckle (where you adjust the child's sitting position) is in the correct position for your baby's height. If it still feels too tight, increase the length of the straps by adjusting the strap buckles. This will allow more space for both you and your baby.
How do I put on the BABYBJÖRN® Baby Carriers?
Please refer to the appropriate product page of this website for detailed instructions on how to put on and adjust your baby carrier. Instructions are also available on the packaging, as well as in the Owners Manual.
I am a size Small and my husband is a size Extra Large, can we use the same BABYBJÖRN® Baby Carrier?
Yes, the straps on all BABYBJÖRN® Baby Carriers are made long to fit persons ranging in size from S to XL or larger.
I have a BABYBJÖRN® Baby Carrier Original purchased before January 1, 1999. I have heard that there is a Retro fit kit available for this version. How do I retrieve one?
Please see the Recall section of our web site, http://www.babyswede.com/recalls.html.

Babysitter Balance and Accessories
What is the difference between the BABYBJÖRN Comfort Carrier and other BABYBJÖRN Baby Carriers (Original, Active, Air and Synergy)?
BABYBJÖRN's existing range of Baby Carriers, Original, Air, Active and Synergy, are all designed to offer maximum support from birth and to grow with the baby in the first year.
Comfort Carrier is designed with active parents in mind who want to extend the time they can carry their child comfortably. Thanks to the weight absorbing combination of waist-belt and padded straps, BABYBJÖRN Comfort Carrier offers the possibility of comfortably carrying a child up to the age of 2, from 13-31 pounds (6-14kg).
Why is BABYBJÖRN Comfort Carrier recommended from 13lbs/6 kg?
The Comfort Carrier is designed a bit wider than our infant carriers (Original, Active, Air and Synergy) to fit a larger baby. As a belt carrier, it is designed so that the weight of the child is distributed between the parent's hips and shoulders, making it more comfortable to carry a heavier baby for longer periods of time.
What is the difference between the normal and wide carrying positions?
The wide leg position brings the baby closer to the parent's body when facing inward, which reduces the weight and makes it more comfortable to carry the child for longer periods.
The normal position allows for freedom of movement as well as carrying the child facing forward. The child can be carried comfortably facing forward up to 26lbs/12 kg.
When can I start using the BABYBJÖRN Comfort Carrier?
The BABYBJÖRN Comfort Carrier can be used from when your child is 3 months old and weighs at least 13lbs/6 kg up until your child weighs 31lbs/14 kg (approx 2 years).
For how long can I carry my child in the baby carrier?
You can carry your child in the baby carrier as long as she/he is content. Remember to pay close attention to your child's signals. We do recommend that you switch positions/activities often, as small children should not remain still in the same position for extended periods of time.
Is it safe for my child to suck and chew on the baby carrier?
Yes. All textiles used in our baby carriers are guaranteed safe according to Oeko-Tex Standard 100, class 1, the category for baby products. The Oeko-Tex label guarantees that the textiles are free from harmful substances and allergens.
When can I start carrying my child facing forward in the BABYBJÖRN Comfort Carrier?
You can begin carrying your child facing outward when his/her neck muscles are strong enough to hold his/her head up. When the child is facing outwards, you should always use the normal leg position.
If your child still enjoys being carried facing inward at 26-31lbs/12-14 kg, we recommend that you carry your child facing inwards using the wide leg position. This offers maximum carrying comfort for you.
Is my BABYBJÖRN Comfort Carrier machine washable?
The BABYBJÖRN Comfort Carrier should be washed separately, warm (40 ¡C). If possible, use a gentle, bleach-free detergent. Do not tumble dry.
Can my baby sleep in the BABYBJÖRN Comfort Carrier?
The closeness and warmth of mom or dad makes it easy to fall asleep safely in all BABYBJÖRN Baby Carriers. BABYBJÖRN's baby carriers provide ample support for the child's back and neck, which allows you to carry your sleeping child for as long as he/she is content.
Remember to pay close attention to your child's signals. We do recommend that you switch positions/activities often, as small children should not remain still in the same position for extended periods of time.
When should I use the leg straps?
The leg straps should be used when your child weighs between 13 lbs/6 kg and 14 lbs/6.5 kg. This will reduce the size of the leg holes and the Comfort Carrier will fit the child more snugly.
Why is 31 lbs/14 kg the maximum weight for the BABYBJÖRN Comfort Carrier?
The BABYBJÖRN Comfort Carrier is designed to keep children up to 2 years old comfortable in the baby carrier while providing support and comfort for the adult carrying the child.
Can I use the BABYBJÖRN Comfort Carrier from newborn?
The BABYBJÖRN Comfort Carrier is designed to carry an older child from 3 months and who weighs no less than 13 lbs/6 kg.
For newborn babies we recommend our infant Baby Carriers: Original, Active, Air and Synergy, as they offer maximum support for the baby's head, neck and spine while providing vital closeness to the parent.
Can the Comfort Carrier be used as a back carrier?
The BABYBJÖRN Comfort Carrier is designed to be used as a front carrier only (on your chest/stomach) and cannot be used to carry your child on your back.
I'm a "Small" but my partner is an "XL". Will the BABYBJÖRN Comfort Carrier fit both of us?
